Follow these three steps when starting a new mentoring relationship:
Meet with your mentor or mentee to get started using the Builda platform. Mentor Meetups provide the opportunity to discuss career goals, determine milestones and tasks for achieving those goals and deepen your mentoring relationships.
Pro Tip: During your first Meetup, try populating the mentee’s Progress tab together as a way to prioritize tasks for achieving key milestones and make sure the appropriate tasks suggested by Builda are included.
Track your progress or the progress of your mentees by clicking on the Progress tab, where you will populate milestones and tasks determined with your mentors, tag the appropriate mentors and have the option to select from the tasks suggested by Builda or your company..
Pro Tip: Set a weekly reminder to quickly update milestones and tasks so you always have a running log of your development — this is also great preparation for annual reviews. Don’t forget to tag your mentors, they’ll receive notifications when you update your progress!
Recurring Meetups are the best way to get the most out of Builda. We recommend one weekly Meetup for progress updates, one Meetup per month as a working session to accelerate milestone achievement and one Meetup per quarter for reevaluating career goals and higher level discussions about career trajectory.
Pro Tip: Between your regularly scheduled Meetups, try taking advantage of Mentor Offices for collaborative learning within your Mentor Cohort and your My Network tab for valuable insights about your professional connections and coworkers’ skillsets. You can change your email notifications preferences in the settings window to make sure you don’t miss any updates on Builda.
